The world's leading economies agreed on a compromise after "frank, sometimes tense" negotiations, French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde said.

The deal was agreed after softening criteria on current account surpluses to get China on board, reports suggest.

"The negotiations were frank, sometimes tense, and led to a final compromise which cannot attribute to any one delegation but which I can say represents a spirit of compromise and of ambition," Ms Lagarde told a news conference.

China reduces its US Treasury

China reduces its US Treasury holdings for second month.



It cut holdings by $4bn (£2.5bn) to $891.6bn in December, according to the US Treasury department. This follows sales of $11.2bn in November.

Iran protests 'going nowhere'

On Iran télévision, president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says: "Iran protests 'going nowhere'", that the opposition are the enemies and "tarnish the Iranian nation's brilliance".

In central Tehran, security forces kill two people and several wounded in clashes.

For US President Barack Obama, "I find it ironic that you've got the Iranian regime pretending to celebrate what happened in Egypt, when in fact they have acted in direct contrast to what happened in Egypt by gunning down and beating people who were trying to express themselves peacefully," he told reporters on Tuesday.

Iran's president dismissed the protests in Tehran and other major cities:
"It is clear the Iranian nation has enemies because it is a nation that wants to shine, conquer peaks and change [its international] relations," he said.

Rebond de la croissance Française de 1,5% en 2010

Pas d'accélération spectaculaire de la croissance en 2010, on peut même dire à en croire les chiffres qu'elle est plutôt molle.

Mais il faut toutefois considérer que cette croissance est présente, puisqu'elle mon jusqu'à 1,5% sur l'ensemble de la France en 2010.

Les indicateurs trimestriels sont les suivants:
- 0,3% au premier trimestre (chiffre révisé en hausse de 0,1 point),
- 0,6% au deuxième,
- 0,3% au troisième,

Elle permet en tout, sur l'année écoulée, d'atteindre l'objectif que c'était fixé le gouvernement sur l'ensemble de 2010.

Lagarde souhaite que DSK reste au FMI

Afin de mieux alimenter la rumeur sur la possible candidature de DSK à la présidentielles de 2012, Christine Lagarde, ministre des finances et de l'économie Française donne son avis sur cette future candidature:

"Il a été nommé comme directeur général du FMI. Tout le monde s'accorde, et j'en fais partie, pour dire qu'il fait un très bon travail au FMI. Il soutient les thèses françaises pour ce G20, donc nous, nous avons besoin de lui là où il est", a déclaré Mme Lagarde sur France 2.

"C'est un partenaire de travail de grande qualité comme directeur général du FMI"

Suite au prochain épisode, cette candidature potentielle ne pouvant de toute façon etre annoncée que par DSK lui-même...
