EU summit 'will be decisive' on eurozone crisis
A European Union summit later this month will agree "decisive" measures to tackle the eurozone debt crisis, the French finance minister has said.
- The summit would give "clear answers", said Francois Baroin at the end of talks between ministers from the G20 group of nations in Paris.
- Central banks "would continue to supply banks with liquidity".
- Emerging economies - whose growth helped support the world economy during the global crisis - are starting to be affected by weaknesses in the advanced economies.
- Details of the rescue plan discussed in Paris include a bigger write-down than previously expected of Greek debt, a much more powerful European.
- The G20 ministers said they welcomed the measures "to increase the capacity and the flexibility of the EFSF [European Financial Stability Facility]".
- The EFSF has been used to fund bailout packages for Ireland and Portugal but there have been fears it will not be able to cope if it is needed to rescue larger economies such as Spain and Italy, both of which have had their credit ratings downgraded in recent weeks.

IMF, new Managing Director profile!!!

How the europeans should impose their économics leaders face to Asia, Africa and South América.
With an économic, political and stratégic weight more and more important, are Asia, Africa and South América could have the arguments necessary to convince north América political and économic leaders that work with emerging can do the job.
Should europe step down in a total and global économic KO if it lost it's économic, political and stratégic leadership?
We can suppose that the political weight weak of the européan parliament and it governance on the full économic et financial area, could have bad influence in favour of european governance.
More, with link between Obama and china, european's diplomatie influence could have great dificulties to catsh the final cut.
What could we expect for the following steps? Shall we think to a progressive attempts to dismantle the euro zone in the case that all the countrys paralyzed by their debt let fall down the euro zone in a collective bankruptcy...?

Lagarde’s I.M.F. Bid Gains Momentum in Europe

PARIS — As the International Monetary Fund prepared to accept nominations Monday to replace Dominique Strauss-Kahn at its helm, European officials rallied over the weekend around Christine Lagarde, France’s finance minister, as their top choice for the post, despite fresh warnings from leaders of emerging markets and other countries that simply handing the job to another European could undermine the fund’s legitimacy.
Ms. Lagarde’s candidacy gained momentum after the British chancellor, George Osborne, backed her Saturday over the former prime minister, Gordon Brown, effectively ending Mr. Brown’s bid for the post.

At I.M.F., Men on Prowl and Women on Guard

WASHINGTON — It is an international island in the midst of the American capital, a sharp-elbowed place ruled by alpha male economists. The days are long, and employees are regularly pressed together for weeks on end during overseas “missions.” It is a climate in which romances often flourish — and lines are sometimes crossed.
Some women avoid wearing skirts for fear of attracting unwanted attention. Others trade whispered tips about overly forward bosses. A 2008 internal review found few restraints on the conduct of senior managers, concluding that “the absence of public ethics scandals seems to be more a consequence of luck than good planning and action.”

CNN Anchor, Richard Quest
The Europeans are in a tricky position. They desperately want to keep the top job at the IMF, but they can’t be seen to be nakedly saying “it’s ours by right.”
So leaders from European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso to finance ministers from Austria, Sweden and Denmark, (in fact just about anyone from Europe who has opened their mouth on the subject), are turning linguistic cartwheels to promote a European solution.
